How to Easily Network with Other Bloggers in Your Niche

If there is one major challenge that I see among bloggers these days, it would be related to their mindset. We often have such a limited mindset when it comes to running an online business. Most bloggers treat it much differently than they would if they were starting a business. If you want to turn your hobby or passion into a full-time blog, then you need to treat it like a real business. Be willing to pick up the phone and talk with people. Don’t hide behind your blog posts. Create an about page that tells people who you are and what you are about. Blogging and relationships are important.

I am a big proponent of search engine traffic. I love it because it sends very targeted traffic to your very targeted blog post. This is ideal for creating a passive income with Google Adsense and affiliate programs. Still, it is good to diversify your traffic sources. I also like referral traffic. This is traffic that is coming from others who are talking about you.

How to Easily Network with Other Bloggers

Take some time each week and reach out to other bloggers in your niche. An easy way to do this is to see who is talking about you online. I’ll give you a personal example. A few weeks ago, I noticed that we were beginning to see some traffic from WriteNowCoach.com. It is a great blog for writers that is written by Rochelle Melander. I saw that she had mentioned Blogging Your Passion in a recent blog post so I sent her an email thanking her for the mention.

She wrote me back and asked if I would be open to writing a guest post for her audience. She also asked me to be a part of her new book tour. She has recently written a great book called: Write-a-thon: Write your book in 26 days (an live to tell about it). She sent me a review copy (which I have really enjoyed so far). She also gave me a book to give away to the readers here on Blogging Your Passion (be on the lookout on how to get this book for free in the next few days).

All of this came from looking at my Google Analytics and sending out an email. I have many more examples that I could share with you related to this strategy. The bottom line is this: Get out from behind your blog and network with other bloggers.

Below is a short video that shows you exactly how to do what I mentioned above:

Jonathan, I have not only made blogging connections this way, but good friends.

Hi Carol. I agree. Bob and I are good friends and it all started when I reached out to him by email.

I really like your post but my questions relates to the opposite side of networking. How do you give a someone a cyber tap on the shoulders so to speak and say hello. How do you as the blogger begin the networking process if they are not necessary pointing to your site?

      • Jonathan

Great question Adrienne. One way you can do it is by linking out to their site from your blog. Bloggers pay attention to people who are linking to them. This is how Rochelle got my attention. She was telling her audience about this blog. Also, don’t go for the super popular blogger. There are plenty of bloggers that are successful but not super celebrities. Also, reach out by writing a guest post. This is how I originally connected with Bob. 🙂

Great tips. My blog is fairly new, so no one has referred me yet. But I know what to do, when they do. This is a pretty cool site by the way. I’ll definitely return.
